Lake houses on the shore of Lake Zurich

The single-storey bungalow from 1963, as well as seven bathhouses are situated on a property in a direct lakeside location on the right shore of Lake Zurich. The starting point for the design was the maximally permitted building volume on the plot and the required preservation of the existing structure of the bungalow within the framework of the existing building guarantee, as well as the other framework conditions under building law, such as the required view of the lake and water protection.

Thanks to the careful planning and the sensitive design, which takes into account the shoreline landscape and the protected object in the neighbourhood, the project was approved without complications and without any objections within a short space of time.

Two lightweight hats will be placed on top of the existing base, interlocking with the existing volume and combining the ‘old’ and ‘new’ to form a unified ensemble. 
The neighbouring, historical villa is not towered over in height by the volumes. With their projecting street-side facades, the two superimposed structures break away from the strict order of the existing pavilion and make reference to the existing alignment of the garage extension. They are dimensioned in such a way that the building mass reserve is optimally utilised. The extension creates two new two-storey tiny houses with versatile outdoor areas, such as roof terraces, a garden with seating, a swimming pool and direct private access to the lake.
